Net 15

Net 15 means the invoice is due 15 days after the invoice date.

Net 15 is a shorter payment term requiring full payment within 15 calendar days of the invoice date. Sellers use it to accelerate cash flow, and it is common with new customers, smaller invoices, or industries where quick payment is the norm. Some buyers may ask to extend it to Net 30 — that is a negotiation, not an automatic right.

Example

A freelancer invoices on March 10 with Net 15 terms; payment is due March 25.

Frequently asked questions

Is Net 15 standard or aggressive?

It depends on the industry. In creative freelancing and many services, Net 15 is normal. In manufacturing or enterprise procurement, Net 30 or longer is more typical — imposing Net 15 there may need justification.

What if the client pays late on Net 15 terms?

Payment is overdue from day 16. You can send a reminder immediately, and any late fee stated in your terms starts accruing. Consistent enforcement is what makes short terms work.
