Illustrative photo: reviewing financial documents

Net 30 is a payment term giving the buyer 30 calendar days from the invoice date to pay in full. It is one of the most common B2B payment terms because it balances the buyer's cash flow needs with the seller's expectation of reasonably prompt payment. The count starts on the invoice date unless the contract specifies otherwise.

Example

An invoice dated October 1 with Net 30 terms is due on October 31.

Frequently asked questions

Does Net 30 mean 30 business days or calendar days?

By default, Net 30 means 30 calendar days including weekends and holidays. If you mean business days, say so explicitly in your terms — never assume the other party reads it your way.

Can I offer a discount for paying before the 30 days?

Yes — that is an early payment discount, commonly written as 2/10 Net 30 (2% off if paid within 10 days). It must be stated on the invoice or in the contract to apply.
