Quote Validity Period

The quote validity period is how long your quoted price stays fixed.

Every quote should state how long the price holds — commonly 14, 30, or 90 days. After the period expires, you may reprice to reflect changed costs. A validity period protects you from being held to stale prices and creates healthy urgency for the buyer to decide.

Example

A quote states 'prices valid for 30 days from the quote date' — after that, materials are repriced.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the customer accepts after the validity period?

You are not obliged to honour the old price. You can reissue the quote at current prices — or honour it as goodwill, but that is your choice, not an obligation.

How long should a quote stay valid?

Long enough for the buyer's decision process, short enough to protect you from cost changes. Thirty days suits most services; volatile material costs may justify 14 days.
